I’m Ekathep Michaels, but most people know me as Dinsor. This website is my way of collecting my thoughts in public, not because they’re perfect but because they’re real. I believe the messy, unfinished process of piecing together fragmented ideas is what makes us human. My thoughts jump around, shift, and evolve, and I think most of us are like that too. Through this space, I try to bring together the things that matter most to me: academia, life, and aesthetics.

For me, design isn’t just about how things look. It’s about how ideas shape people, culture, and change. And life, like design, should stay as real as possible.I have a deep passion for design education and how we teach design, a passion that, ironically, started with a not-so-great experience when I was a design student myself. Let’s just say I spent more time questioning why we were doing things than actually doing them. That experience pushed me to think hard about what design education could and should be, and it’s why I care so much about reimagining how we teach future designers today.

I hold a Ph.D. in Design Arts from the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University, where I graduated at the top of my class, a Master’s degree in Mental Health from the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry at Chulalongkorn University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication Design (CommDe) from the Faculty of Architecture. This mix of design and psychology gives me a way to understand not just how we create, but why we create.

I serve as Deputy Department Director of Architectural and Design Intelligence at the School of Architecture, Art and Design, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), where I help guide three international programs: BE.I (Built Environment Intelligence), CACS (Creative Arts and Curatorial Studies), and DICE (Design Intelligence for Creative Economy). I also lead DICE as Program Director, a program built to prepare designers to understand, contribute to, and shape the creative economy with curiosity and critical thinking.

I am 33 as I’m writing this, and yes, that’s a young age for a big position. But I see that as proof that there is still so much more I can build, create, and achieve. I’m not done yet, and I don’t plan to be.

Before joining KMITL, I was Chairperson of Creative Communication Design and Digital Media Design at Bangkok University International, where I focused on building strong industry connections, rethinking curriculum, and finding new ways to make design education more relevant and impactful.

I teach across several faculties including Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, and Architecture, with a focus on Design Thinking and Digital Storytelling. I am also deeply committed to bringing Gender Studies into design education because I believe design must be inclusive, responsive, and reflective of the world we live in.
